Welcome to Where the Climate Things Are
Climate resources, stories and solutions for the outdoor community.
Are you an outdoor athlete, enthusiast or recreationalist*?
*we define recreating outdoors as enjoying nature, in whatever form that takes.
Do you want to learn more about 1) climate change, 2) taking climate action to protect our environment, and 3) climate solutions that are already out there, in the outdoors industry and beyond -- without the doom, gloom and shame?
Cool, SAME.
Where the Climate Things Are is a media series and resource hub focused on building an inclusive climate movement in the outdoor community. There is so much incredible work and experience in all corners of our world of outdoor enthusiasts, and if I’ve learned one thing in my time studying and working on environmental issues, it’s that sharing positive, solutions-oriented stories and personal experiences is often the biggest unlock to encouraging broader environmental action. We don’t do doomsday, guilt or shame here -- we uplift solutions-oriented work, talk about existing issues and challenges, and discuss where we need to go, together.
I'm going to be interviewing climate advocates from professional athletes to scientists to UN diplomats and beyond, all sharing the same commonality: a passion for recreating outdoors. I’m also going to be compiling articles, summarizing events and updates, and possibly producing more forms of media to share the stories I’m seeing with you all.

More about the WHY here
I’ve been an outdoor enthusiast for most of my life, starting out playing in tide pools in Maine and graduating to pursuits like ultra running, mountaineering and climbing. I’ve worked on sustainability and environment at nonprofits, major companies - even the United Nations - and gone back to get my masters trying to crack the code on collective environmental action. Along the way, I’ve learned two things: a) the climate movement needs to be as accessible and inclusive to everyone as possible, which means passing the mic/shining a light and 2) sometimes telling stories is the simplest way to spur action.
Join me as we delve into the world of climate action in the outdoor community, and together find out where the climate things are.
"sometimes telling stories is the simplest way to spur action".
Hello Adeline! I come from the world of academia where I felt like the papers we´d write would not really reach anyone. I graduated in the field of Regenerative Agriculture. I am also a believer of stories, people´s stories, to inspire action.
Happy to have found my way to your substack!
